Initiated by the Calais municipality, the Scientific Board of the International City of Lace and Fashion in Calais was formed in 2007 following the initiative of Stéphane Curveiller, a lecturer and then Deputy Director of Artois University Heritage and Tourism Vocational University Training Institute. The Scientific Board meets twice a year. It is made up of French and foreign university academics interested in developing research in the various fields of human and social sciences. It works closely with the chief curator in charge of the project, Martine Fosse, and the Calais City of Lace team whose skills are essential here. It invites useful experts for its work to its meetings when necessary. Lastly, mention should be made of the essential support provided by Calais lacemakers through the association Trame, which attests both to their support and constant and renewed interest in the museographical project and research work.
